A LITTLE PREP GOES A LONG WAY
If you want to reach those goals, you’re going to have to put in the work.
Your audience may not see what happens behind the scenes to prepare, but they will surely notice if you don’t.
Proper preparation is essential to a successful presentation and it will:
- Ensure that you are sharing content that is relevant to your audience.
- Ease your nerves and help you feel confident in your content.
- Streamline the speech writing process and save you valuable time.
In today’s video, I’m sharing my top three tips for presentation preparation so you can see exactly what I do before I craft a keynote.

MY 3 TIPS FOR PREPPING TO WRITE YOUR PRESENTATION
1. GET TO KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE
Who are they and why are they attending this event?
If you don't know exactly who you're speaking to, how do you know what they need? Find out as much as you can about your audience prior to ever mapping out your presentation.
The speech you delivered last week on how to maintain the perfect shade of purple hair may not go over as well with this week's corporate audience.
Know your audience so you know they consider valuable.... and then over deliver that value!
2. SUM UP YOUR TALK INTO ONE SENTENCE
If you could leave your audience with ONE piece of information, what would it be?
Look, I know that you're amazing at what you do. Your business is successful, your clients are happy and you want to share everything you've learned over the years with your audience. Hold that thought! That strategy is going to hurt you more than it will help.
You can not showcase ALL of your talents in an hour long keynote.
If you want to highlight your expertise--get laser focused on what content you are going to deliver. Deliver valuable content rather than volumes of information.
3. DELIVER A TRANSFORMATION
How can you help your audience get immediate results?
You have a short amount of time with your audience, so make it count. By helping your audience see an immediate result you instantly position yourself as a master of your craft.
What actionable steps helped you achieve your success? These are likely the same steps your audience needs to take.
