Ep 03 - Speaker Directory Websites & Online Dating

When it comes to speaking, we often want to say yes to everything! And in that desire to say yes to it all, we sell ourselves short and put ourselves on speaker listing sites that don’t show our value and don’t truly represent who we are. Event organizers want long term relationships with their speakers. They want to get to know their speakers passed the surface. But in order to have those types of event/speaker relationships, we have to focus on the things we can skip over so we don’t waste our time and get stuck spinning wheels!

Episode takeaways you don’t want to miss:

  • What speaker listing sites are and how to navigate whether or not you should post yourself as a speaker on those sites.

  • If you are going to invest in your own speaking success, make sure you are investing in something that helps you for the long haul - not just that one opportunity to make your money back.

  • How utilizing a Speaker Roster builds trust and credibility. It is easier to get a referral from someone trustworthy.

  • Speaker Roster’s are like online dating; the perfect event is matched with their perfect speaker.

  • Event organizers don’t want a one-time-and-done relationship with their speakers. They want a long term relationship.

  • Let’s cut out the cookie cutter directory listings and start connecting again.
