Ep 03 - Speaker Directory Websites & Online Dating

When it comes to speaking we often want to say yes to everything! In that desire to say yes to it all, we sell ourselves short and put ourselves on speaker listing sites that don’t show our value nor truly represent who we are. The “set it and forget” mentality with signing up for speaker directories isn’t going to work. Event organizers want long term relationships with their speakers and simply putting your contact info on a directory isn’t going to come close to establishing that. On today’s episode we’re going to discuss where you should be investing your time and how to ensure you’re standing out on the RIGHT directories.

If you loved this episode and it motivated you to add speaking to your business, I’d love for you to leave me some positive feedback on iTunes and tell me about your biggest takeaway. Episode takeaways you don’t want to miss:

  • What speaker listing sites are and how to navigate whether or not you should post yourself as a speaker on those sites.

  • If you are going to invest in your own speaking success, make sure you are investing in something that helps you for the long haul - not just that one opportunity to make your money back.

  • How utilizing a Speaker Roster builds trust and credibility. It is easier to get a referral from someone trustworthy.

  • Speaker Roster’s are like online dating; the perfect event is matched with their perfect speaker.

  • Event organizers don’t want a one-time-and-done relationship with their speakers. They want a long term relationship.

  • Let’s cut out the cookie cutter directory listings and start connecting again.
