EP 32: How To Select Speakers For Your Next Event
Have you considered hosting your own event this year or next? Maybe you want to cultivate an incredible conference, intimate retreat, a one day workshop, or even an online summit. Regardless of the format, you are probably so excited about all the bells, whistles, and pretty touches you've been dreaming up. But then comes the hardest part … landing the best-fit speakers for your event. Often we get caught up in this Instagram perfect industry and forget what really matters; serving from the stage, adding value to the attendees and making the event an experience the attendees want to come back to time and time again. So if you are looking to host your own event or online summit, I want to give you three things to consider before you select speakers. Because the speakers you have will make a strong impact on the whole event!

Episode takeaways you don’t want to miss:
In an “instagram-perfect” industry, it’s easy to get sucked into the comparison trap and feel like you’re in a constant popularity contest.
Having a concrete vision for your event will help you understand which speakers fit into that and who is going to be an extension of it from the stage.
Identifying what your attendees are looking for helps you figure out the content you need to curate for them in order to make it an experience that is valuable for them.
You don’t want to pick speakers you have seen on other lineups or who are your friends. You want to pick people that fit the brand of your event. Consider any characteristics, themes, or trends that are really important to our brand and to our audience. It all needs to serve your vision cohesively!
